Welcome to the Ivybridge Guest House, Drim Mill, Dyffrin, Goodwick, Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, SA64 0JT. Tel: (01348) 875366, Email: ivybridge5366@aol.com, Web: www.theivybridgehotel.co.uk.

We are a small family run guest house with over 20 years of hospitality management experience in the Far East. It was family who have been living in Pembrokeshire for some time who convinced us to set up our “open house” here in Goodwick. Surprisingly tourism into Goodwick, Fishguard and on up through the Preseli Hills, has seen a steady increase in recent years as more people from the UK as well as Europe and further afield come to hear of this rural untouched beauty on the Welsh coastline. Although connectivity by road, rail and sea with Stena Line and the Irish Ferry making regular daily stops from Ireland to our local ports has blossomed, now is the time to experience the local culture before the commercial circus really takes a hold. Being new to the area I can say that I have been encouraged by the friendliness of our neighbours, the abundance of fresh home bakeries, preserves, seafood, the unrivalled beauty of the coastal path and hills, the Preseli’s, the abundance of nature; the preservation of moors, forestry, lush green vegetation all of which make the area idyllic as a getaway for all the family; truly fabulous!

Jan, my wife, a Macau national, and I have been in hospitality for over 30 years. Although Jan gained her stripes in Macau and China, I began my career in Surrey and London before jetting off to the Far East. Jan and I met in Macau in the same year 1989. We both worked in different hotels and when first met were faced with an acute language barrier during those early years. Although I have always worked in the food and beverage line and later managed 4 star, 300 to 400 bedroom hotels in both city centre and coastal resorts, Jan continued to train in holistic nutrition and now enjoys a great understanding of health and fitness through lifestyle, good nutrition and environmental influences. Acquiring the Ivybridge Guest House has been a true blessing for us both as we strip off the suit and tie for a more comfortable country living style and a more meaningful and relaxing time with our guests from all walks of life. We hope that everyone that stays with us at the Ivybridge Guest House will notice a little East West influence in our overall services and food menus.

The Ivybridge Guest House has 14 en-suite rooms that can accommodate most needs. From single travellers to large families; all rooms are relatively spacious, well equipped and benefitting from fresh new duvets, towels, tea, coffee and hot chocolate facilities. We are open 24 hours a day to welcome check-ins from 12 noon to 12 midnight when the daily late Stena Line ferry arrives from Rosslare Ireland!
Most of our rooms will sleep 3 (double and single) or 4 (double and bunk) but also cater to the disabled, those that like to bring pets, and with good wifi throughout the building, business stop-overs. The Ivybridge Guest House is spacious and set in a woodland area with streams, bridle paths and a moor to its rear. It’s ideal for those appreciating complete rest by night whilst awakening to the sounds of the countryside during the morning hours.

FACILITIES
The hotel is adjacent to the Ivybridge Spa and has its own heated plunge pool and open plan garden backing onto the woods. Breakfast is served in a 35 seater restaurant & licensed bar called the “Melting Pot” which transforms into an evening pub and lounge with its own fireplace in the evening. We can cater to private parties and receptions be it a corporate or private affair. Menus are flexible with most diets and conditions catered for. We appreciate that the event location and décor are so crucial to making your event come to life in its own spectacular way. We will be holding wine, dine and entertainment events throughout the year which will be advertised in advance on our facebook homepage and local press. If you happen to be in the Goodwick/Fishguard area, do drop by for a freshly brewed coffee and a homemade cake and experience our beautiful spot in the sun.

Location – We have a 35 seater restaurant and bar with a cosy open fire place lounge area with piano; ideal for drinks, a chat and occasionally some live music to listen to. Alternatively, the front conservatory is where we serve afternoon tea as it captures the warm afternoon sun quite spectacularly! And of course for casual dining and a leisurely chat, the back garden which opens up to the local wooded area is an ideal way to spend Sunday afternoons. All public premises in the UK are no smoking areas by law and it pays to observe these small conveniences for the benefit of other guests.

Licensed Bar - We do have a fully licensed bar that is available to in house guests from 12am to 11pm and outside guests with meals or by private arrangement.
Breakfast (7 days a week) – Served from 8am to 10am although an earlier plan can be considered given a day’s notice. Breakfast consists of a help yourself continental buffet of juices, yogurt, cereals, meats and cheeses, fresh bakery and free flow coffee (any style) or teas. A full British breakfast of bacon, sausages, mushrooms with a choice of baked beans or tomatoes and an egg any style or combinations on toast are prepared a la minute.

PACKED Lunch (7 days a week) – Packed and made daily to order one day in advance. The essential nutritious pack will be available to coastal walkers and other activity driven residents and consists of a combination of water, high fibre sandwiches, energy bar, fruits and yogurt.

High Tea (Weekends & Bank Holidays) – Served from 2pm until 4:30pm. We make an array of home cooked bakeries, flans, cakes and scones and buy our jams locally, teas and fresh brewed coffee are served in the hotel’s conservatory or “in the woods” at our garden to the rear.

Dinner (Monday to Saturday evenings) – Served from 6pm until 9pm (last orders). From April 2014 until further notice, evening meals are limited to a traditional British menu and available primarily to in house residents and guests. Our plans are to open up our 35 seater restaurant with an Oriental “East West” style menu given that we have spent most of our culinary years in the Far East! Combining local produce such as lamb, fish, seasonal fruit and vegetables and a large spoon of herbs and spices to capture the essence of fine Chinese, Thai, Malaysian and Macau dishes, my wife Jan will soon create home grown dishes that will bring back essential speciality Asian at its best!

Spa – The Ivybridge Spa is operated independently of the hotel but we share the same philosophy on the need for body care whether it be external or internal repair and maintenance! From total body solutions, rejuvenation and massage to osteopathy and a healthy mind; the Spa offers a comprehensive array of solutions for all ages. They can be contacted at Tel: 01348-875345 and www.ivybridgespa.co.uk.

Plunge Pool – Open daily from 8am-8pm. The hotel operates a plunge pool which is 5 foot deep on one end and heated to 26-270C from April to August and beyond depending on demand. It’s a lovely way to relax and unwind after a long walk or day out at the local market or indeed after a long journey. The plunge pool is open subject to water conditions and other health and safety concerns.

WiFi – 24 hour free WiFi throughout the hotel. Seeing people play board games is a rarity these days as we have all taken to on line gaming and keeping in touch with family and friends via the internet. We have areas around the hotel where internet can be viewed in your own privacy. We can also lend a laptop should the need arise and subject to availability at all times.

Check Out – 10:30am. Although a late stay can be arranged depending on personal circumstances and room availability, we can also store luggage and offer shower facilities should the need arise.

All facilities offered to guests at the Ivybridge Guest House are subject to local conditions and circumstances and may not always be known in advance. We will always try our best to provide alternative arrangements or substitutes in extreme circumstances.

We are located 3 minutes’ drive from the Stena Line Ferry terminal and 20 minutes’ drive on the old A487 from the capital city of Tyddewi St Davids. We are in a beautiful sunny spot surrounded by nature trails, walks and connectivity to the most picturesque coastal walk from Wdig Goodwick to Tyddewi St David’s on one side and the rambling Bryniau Preseli Preseli Hills to the other. We work with the local Welsh tourism board to ensure that our information is current and complete with local events and special deals at hand. We have an area in the hotel dedicated to tourist brochures, maps and of course Stena Line ferry and coastal walk drop off bus schedules and the important tide timetable. Pembrokeshire is a cauldron of magical significance both historically and present day with events as well as great leaders in art and literature including Hollywood stars having come here over the years. Sir Benfro as it is known in Welsh is a pot pourri of historical towns, picturesque villages, breath-taking coastline and fine sandy as well as rocky beaches.

The Ivybridge Guest House is the perfect setting for a relaxing break, ideally situated for those wishing to enjoy the coastline, local beaches and amazing countryside. We also have rivers and lakes for fishing and differing natural ecosystems for bird-spotting and nature trailblazing; you name it, we have it here on our doorstep! Other sports and leisure facilities include coasteering, boating and dive sites up and down the coastline. A must for visitors to Goodwick is a captivating tour of the Cwm Gwaun (Gwaun Valley) with its rambling hills and valleys that stretch as far as the eye can see; truly breath-taking. Not forgetting that nearby Fishguard is the site of the last attempted French invasion of Great Britain in 1797. Come and see where the treaty was signed, read the amazing story at our local museum and walk the local castles. Enjoy your trip to Wales!
