Najstarsza archidiecezja w Polsce

Wizyta w archidiecezji gnieźnieńskiej to niezwykła podróż do miejsc, gdzie kształtowały się początki państwa i kościoła w Polsce.
Jest to pierwsza archidiecezja na ziemiach polskich. Na jej terenie odbył się chrzest Polski, którego 1050-lecie obchodziliśmy w 2016 r. Tutaj też, w roku 1000, miał miejsce Zjazd Gnieźnieński , w którym uczestniczył cesarz niemiecki Otton III, potwierdzając w ten sposób uznanie Polski w rodzinie krajów europejskich. U początków archidiecezji gnieźnieńskiej leży szczególny kult św. Wojciecha - męczennika, głównego patrona archidiecezji i Polski, który zginął, głosząc Ewangelię poganom. Jego żywot przedstawiają słynne romańskie Drzwi Gnieźnieńskie prowadzące do znajdującej się w Gnieźnie katedry, w której centralne miejsce zajmuje Relikwiarz św. Wojciecha. Stolicę archidiecezji, Gniezno, odwiedził dwukrotnie bł. Jan Paweł II (w 1997 i 1979 r.).

W wielu zakątkach archidiecezji “dotknąć” można historii i kultury Polski, a wszystko to wśród pięknych krajobrazów i atrakcyjnych turystycznie miejsc.
Archidiecezja gnieźnieńska wyróżnia się również dobrym położeniem komunikacyjnym - znajduje się w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie autostrady A2, drogi szybkiego ruchu S5, linii kolejowych oraz lotnisk cywilnych w Poznaniu i Bydgoszczy.

A visit to the Archdiocese of Gniezno is an unusual trip to the places where the beginnings
of Polish state and Church were shaped. It is the first archdiocese on Polish lands. The Baptism of Poland was held on its territory and in 2016, 1050th anniversary commemorating that event will be celebrated there. The Congress of Gniezno in 1000 took place there as well. Being the member of this event, the German Emperor Otto III affirmed the recognition
of Poland among the European states. The origins of the Archdiocese date back to the exceptional cult of Saint Adalbert – a martyr, main patron of both the Archdiocese
and Poland, who lost his life spreading the Gospel among the pagans. The life and martyrdom of this Saint is depicted on the famous Romanesque door leading to the Gniezno Cathedral with a silver relic coffin of the Saint in its central part. Gniezno, which is the capital of the Archdiocese, was visited twice by Blessed John Paul II in 1979 and 1997. In many corners of the Archdiocese you may touch the history and culture of Poland all of that among beautiful landscapes and attractive tourist places. One of those spots is located nearby Lednica where Polish youth meetings are held annually in June. Their symbol is the Gate of the Third Millennium erected on Lednica fields, in a shape of a steel fish.
The Archdiocese of Gniezno stands out as perfectly located – it is situated by A2 motorway, S5 expressway, the railway and two airports - Poznan and Bydgoszcz.
